After working on the US Election graphics in 2016, it was great for Kenziko to be involved again for the 2018 Midterms.
Providing data-driven graphics for a live show is always a challenge, but the 2018 midterms gave us an opportunity to use our development methodologies to the full, ensuring the on-screen
graphics could deal with any eventuality.
For 2018, it was essential we could present the individual results, Senate and House of Representatives correctly at all times throughout the night. In addition we needed to be able to deal with ‘flash’ results, showing candidate images and individual state cards.
All the graphics ran in realtime on Vizrt graphics systems. To ensure everything went to plan we built an extensive test suite, allowing us to see every possible type of result way in advance of the live results programme, assuring us that we’d got all areas covered.
Kenziko also provided manually operated template graphics for use by the BBC News and BBC World graphics teams, with support for numerous languages such as Arabic and Farsi.
